Texas Home Destroyed Due to Second Fire
A West Texas family is dealing with the loss of their home after one fire slightly damaged the place and then a blaze the next day destroyed the house.
Casey and Jamie Jones of Brownwood and their five children were not home when the fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in a kitchen area.
Fire Marshal Buddy Preston says smoldering insulation in the attic caused the blaze to restart early Wednesday. Nobody was injured.
The Brownwood Bulletin reports the second fire destroyed the residence and killed the family’s dog, a Chihuahua named “Gizmo.”
The American Red Cross is providing assistance, including money for the Jones family to stay in a motel.
Brownwood is 125 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
