University of Central Oklahoma Offering Free Data Recovery to Storm Victims
Faculty and students at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Forensic Science Institute are offering free assistance with data recovery of photos or documents in the wake of last week’s deadly tornadoes.
Forensics Science Institute Professor Mark McCoy says it could cost victims hundreds of dollars to hire a company to recover data from damaged hard drives or computers.
Officials say using the same high-tech equipment used in solving crime, the students and faculty at the institute will work to recover the data for those who sign up for the service. Anyone interested should call the institute.
Those receiving assistance will be required to sign a release of liability and provide identification that proves the person requesting the data recovery owns the material.
