Lawsuits Filed in Wake of Fatal Louisiana Crash
Three lawsuits have been filed in the wake of a crash that killed two Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center employees and injured two others.
Authorities say 27-year-old Ronnie Rios was driving Oct. 15, 2010, when he swerved into the oncoming lane, hitting a Honda Civic head-on.
The Honda’s driver, 44-year-old Samantha Marcel and passenger, 35-year-old Lalisa Robinson, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Passengers Kara James and Sandra Brunet were critically injured. Rios also sideswiped a pickup driven by Patrick Voisin, who sustained minor injuries.
The Courier reports the lawsuits all ask for unspecified monetary damages.
In April, Rios pleaded guilty to two counts vehicular homicide, two counts first-degree vehicular negligent injuring and one count vehicular negligent injuring and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
