Louisiana Store Operators Charged in Arson Plot
Two brothers who operated a convenience store in Metairie have been charged with conspiring to intentionally set fire to the building in December.
A federal indictment unsealed Tuesday charges against 37-year-old Wael Hammad and 30-year-old Alaa Hammad, both of Gretna, with conspiracy and arson.
On Dec. 14, Alaa Hammad allegedly set fire to the building he and his brother rented for the Fat City Discount Market. The indictment says their rental agreement allowed them to terminate the lease if the property was damaged by fire.
