Louisiana Council Gets Update on Hurricane Museum
It has been a year since officials with the National Hurricane Museum and Science Center signed a cooperative agreement with Lake Charles City Hall to build the $60 million-plus facility on property near the Civic Center.
On Tuesday, the American Press reports museum board member Gray Stream said $450,000 has been raised and will be used to develop marketing materials to be presented to potential big-dollar donors.
Stream says educators have begun putting together a curriculum for the museum.
In three weeks, Stream will head to Washington, D.C., to meet with representatives of groups that may be willing to donate to the museum.
