Fire Destroys Factory in Arkansas
Authorities say an east Arkansas plastics factory was destroyed in a weekend fire.
The K-Tops Plastics Manufacturing factory in Colt went up in flames Saturday night. Colt Fire Chief Jim Haynes says it was unsafe to send the firefighters inside because the blaze was so powerful.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire at the 220,000-square-foot facility in St. Francis County. No injuries were reported.
Memphis, Tenn., television station WMC reports that the company employed about 100 people at the plant in Colt. The facility manufactured plastic items used in car seats and other products.
Officials say K-Tops was the largest employer in the Colt area.
