Disaster Recovery Center to Open in Oklahoma County
Emergency officials are opening a disaster recovery center in Cleveland County, Okla., for people affected by August wildfires.
Officials say the center opens Wednesday at Twelve Corners Baptist Church in Noble. Wildfire victims are eligible for government assistance for housing repairs or temporary housing.
The federal government initially denied Cleveland County’s request for wildfire aid. Gov. Mary Fallin appealed and the government reversed its ruling.
Fires throughout Oklahoma this summer damaged nearly 680 homes and businesses and blackened about 114,000 acres.
