Fire at Arkansas Hazmat Plant Prompts Evacuation
A fire at a hazardous materials recycling plant in El Dorado, Ark., has prompted an evacuation.
The Tuesday fire resulted in road closures, and the Union County Sheriff’s Department also had to evacuate.
The fire is at a Clean Harbors Recycling plant. Little Rock television station KTHV reports the plant processes hazardous materials for disposal.
Little Rock television station KATV reports that officials from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management say the company stores chlorine at the site of the blaze.
The fire started shortly after 4 p.m. The Ruddell Acres neighborhood is included in the evacuation area.
