Equipment to Join Louisiana Town’s Firefighting Fleet
The Hammond, La., fire department expects to add equipment during the coming year.
Fire Chief John Thomas tells The Daily Star a new crash truck will be stationed at Station 5 to handle Hammond Northshore Regional Airport and another fire engine will join the fleet.
The total cost of both units will be around $500,000, paid for in money collected in recent years from property taxes.
The airport engine will give firefighters a better engine than they have now in case of an aircraft crash. Thomas says the other engine, a pumper, would replace an older engine elsewhere in town.
