OSHA Cites 24 Violations in Fatal Blast at Texas Plant in April

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued 24 citations to the owners of the fertilizer plant in West, Texas, that exploded in April, according to California Senator Barbara Boxer.

The company that owned the plant was fined $118,300 by OSHA for “serious violations,” said Boxer. She said she disclosed the penalties in Washington because the government shutdown prevented the agency from making an announcement.

The Adair Grain Inc. fertilizer facility in West, Texas, caught fire and exploded on April 17, killing 14 and leaving a crater 93 feet by 10 feet.
