Oklahoma Highway Patrol to Remove Vehicles Found in River Channel

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Marine Enforcement Division is planning a large-scale operation to remove vehicles found in the McClellan-Kerr Navigation Channel east of Tulsa.

The OHP says the project will begin Wednesday when divers depart from what’s known as the “33 landing” that is southeast of the channel in Rogers County.

Troopers will be using new technology that includes side-scan sonar systems to find vehicles that are submerged in up to 20 feet of water. The divers will mark the vehicles with buoys and wreckers will then be used to pull the vehicles from the water.
