Heavy Snow Damages Docks on North Arkansas Lakes
Authorities in north Arkansas say a dock collapse on Lake Norfork does not pose an immediate threat of contamination to the lake.
Henderson Fire Chief Rodney May says the weight of snow and ice caused the roof of a boat dock to collapse on top of a long row of boats in the Lake Norfork Marina. May says a portion of another dock in the marina also succumbed to the weight of the ice and snow.
But May tells The Baxter Bulletin there’s no evidence of motor fuel on the lake surface.
Several other docks collapsed or sank because of the heavy snow and ice. Officials say a dock at Charlie’s Rainbow Trout Resort on the North Fork River sank, taking down eight river boats and motors.
