South Texas Construction Worker Dies After Fall at Hotel Site
South Texas police say a 35-year-old worker has died at a construction site after falling from a platform.
Harlingen police Sgt. Robert Ahrens says Juan Carlos Reyes of Brownsville was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday.
Witnesses told police Reyes was standing on the platform holding supplies that were being carried by a forklift to a fourth floor when the platform moved and he fell to the ground. The incident occurred at a site where a Marriott hotel is being built.
Reyes was unresponsive and not breathing when emergency medical personnel, firefighters and police arrived.
An autopsy has been ordered and a police investigation into the death is ongoing.
