Louisiana Waste Company Refuses Ebola Victim’s Ash
A Louisiana waste disposal facility in Calcasieu Parish says it has decided not to accept the ash resulting from the incineration of a Texas Ebola victim‘s belongings.
Chemical Waste Management Inc. announced its decision Monday in a news release from Lake Charles.
The company said the waste poses no threat to the environment or human health. But, before it accepts the ash, it wants public officials in Louisiana to agree that doing so would be safe.
Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said he would seek a state court order blocking the transport of the ash into Louisiana. Seven southwestern Louisiana lawmakers said they supported the move.
