Texas Police Investigate Band Instrument Theft
San Antonio, Texas, police are investigating the theft of about $4,000 worth of instruments from the tour bus of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell’s band.
The show went on Sunday night for Russell, recognizable by his long white hair and beard, and his band at the Aztec Theatre. KSAT-TV reports guitarist Beau Charron had to play with borrowed instruments.
The theft was discovered Sunday morning. Band members told police they noticed the cargo doors on the parked bus were open.
Charron reports he lost a mandolin and three electric guitars, including a favorite Stratocaster that he’s had almost 20 years.
No arrests were immediately reported. San Antonio police didn’t immediately return messages Monday.
A message left for a Russell representative wasn’t immediately returned.
