Fla. Lawmakers to Speak at Rally for Healthcare Reform
Two Central Florida lawmakers will be on hand to speak at a June 13 rally in support of health care reform. According to the Tampa Bay Insurance Journal, Rep. Sandy Murman, R-Tampa and Rep. Sheri McInvale, D-Orlando are scheduled to speak at the rally, which will be held at the Sorosis-Orlando Woman’s Club.
Other speakers include obstetrics patient Corrine Wright; mammography patient Hilda Rosado; and Dr. Claire Godfrey, an obstetrician-gynecologist.
The rally, organized as a call for passage of a comprehensive medical liability reform package under consideration during the special legislative session that starts June 16, being backed by hospitals, doctors and other health care providers. Event planners hope to show how the medical malpractice crisis has led to the reduction and/or elimination of health care services for women such as the childbirth and the reading of mammograms.
