Tenn. Forms Joint Committee to Study Tort Reform
Attempting to keep Tennessee from becoming a “crisis state” with regards to medical malpractice awards, a special joint committee has begun a series of meetings to study the effects that tort reform would have on medical malpractice cases.
Republicans are advocating for caps on malpractice awards, but Democrats say that the caps are unfair to consumers.
The U.S. Department of Health and Services has moved Tennessee from a “non-crisis” state to a “pre-crisis” state.
