Fla. Pols Headed for 3rd Med-Mal Session
In an effort to bring medical malpractice liability limits to within reach of Gov. Jeb Bush’s stated preference, the Florida Senate President James King offered a new plan that would limit total non-economic damages to $4 million, according to the Miami Herald.
That figure would encompass what could be obtained from any doctors, hospitals, HMOs or other entities involved in a given malpractice incident; it is $1.5 million more than the cap Bush has advocated.
It appears likely, the Herald reported, that a third special session of the Florida Legislature will be convened in August to work on the matter.
