Fla. Man Posing as Psychotherapist Charged with Fraud
A Pompano Beach, Fla. man reportedly posing as a psychotherapist is facing numerous felony charges for filing insurance claims for counseling sessions.
Lubomir Lacho, 52, reportedly collected more than $11,000 after billing $18,000 in claims to United Healthcare Insurance Company. He billed for at least 47 patients, according to an investigation by the Department of Financial Services, Division of Insurance Fraud.
Lacho is charged with one count of insurance fraud, six counts of grand theft, and one count of unlicensed practice of mental health counseling/ psychotherapy.
The investigation began after United Healthcare reported suspicious claims from Lacho, whose claim forms reflected that the patients were all treated for the same procedure and all at the same charge of $175 per procedure. Lacho saw and treated patients from October 2000 through April of 2003.
Lacho was arrested last Thursday by investigators with the Division of Insurance Fraud with assistance from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Broward County Jail, with bond set at $8,000.
