Ky. Gov. Reports Extension for Homeland Security Grant Deadline Due to Storms
The Office of Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has extended the deadline for the 2004 Homeland Security grant application process from June 25 to July 9, 2004.
“Since the storms hit the commonwealth during the last week of May, the people responsible for organizing the grant applications have been busy responding to flood and tornado damage,” said Governor Fletcher. “With emergency declarations in at least 44 counties and 16 cities it is only fair that we extend the deadline so they are not penalized.”
Fletcher noted the application encourages mayors and county judges to coordinate closely with local officials such as police, fire, and emergency management officials who are responsible for responding to natural disasters
Applicants who have already submitted their proposals may request the return of their packages if they would like additional time to adjust them.
If they have further questions about the process they should contact the Office of Homeland Security at 502-564-2081.
