Fla. Residents to Receive Housing Brochure
Floridians staying in mobile homes and travel trailers provided by FEMA and the State of Florida because of the 2004 hurricanes will receive additional information about living in temporary disaster housing.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Florida’s State Emergency Response Team (SERT) have published an informational brochure to supplement the owner’s manual occupants receive when they move in. The 12-page brochure gives information on fire safety, emergency preparedness, crisis counseling, maintenance information and occupancy requirements.
FEMA staff will distribute the brochure to occupants of temporary group sites. Residents with units on private property will receive it by mail. Individuals can obtain a Spanish version by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. EDT, Monday-Friday.
Currently, more than 12,300 mobile homes and travel trailers provided by FEMA are occupied by Floridians because of significant damage sustained to their dwellings after the four 2004 hurricanes.
