Sedgwick CMS M.D. Receives ACOEM Award, Elected to Term on Board of Directors
Tennessee-based Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. announced that Senior Vice President and Corporate Medical Director Pamela Hymel has received the 2005 Meritorious Service Award from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Hymel has also been elected to a three-year term on the ACOEM Board of Directors.
ACOEM represents more than 6,000 physicians and other allied health professionals in the United States and Canada in promoting the health and safety of workers, workplaces and environments through preventive medicine, clinical care, research and education. The ACOEM Meritorious Service Award is given in recognition of exceptional achievements in occupational and environmental medicine.
In announcing Hymel’s award, ACOEM cited her contributions as a board member from 1999 to 2002 and secretary/treasurer from 2002 to 2004, as chair of the first Occupational Medicine Leadership Forum, and as chair of the nominating committee for the Occupational Physicians Scholarship Fund.
Hymel also co-chairs ACOEM’s Health and Productivity Committee and is leading the development of the Health and Productivity Toolkit, a resource for the implementation of results-oriented programs in the workplace.
Hymel is Sedgwick CMS’s principal expert medical resource in all
matters including managed care, case management, utilization review and return-to-work services for the firm’s workers’ compensation, occupational disability and integrated disability claims management clients; and employee health programs including healthcare and wellness plans and employee assistance programs.
