Crawford University Offers Hands-on Adjuster Training
Atlanta-based Crawford & Company has announced the expansion of its educational program to offer adjusters training in personal and commercial liability; property and casualty; and workers’ compensation claims.
The Crawford University offers comprehensive client training in a hands-on program that combines technical learning programs with hard-skill training. Most classes are offered at Crawford’s worldwide headquarters in Atlanta; however, Crawford also offers customized programs that can be delivered at its facility or at the client’s location.
“At Crawford, we feel strongly about having a well-trained adjuster workforce,” Tom Crawford, president and CEO explained. “That is why our founder, Jim Crawford, began training classes back in 1941 and why we continue to improve and expand our training program today.”
For the new full-time property adjuster or the multi-line adjuster with minimal experience in adjusting property claims, Crawford offers the Basic Property Loss Adjustment class. This one-week classroom course will enable the adjuster to evaluate, estimate, and handle property losses, under supervision.
The Advanced Property Loss Adjustment class is a two-week class for the experienced property adjuster who wants to develop expertise in handling commercial property losses, with special emphasis on business interruption and loss of income.
The comprehensive one-week Workers’ Compensation class is designed to help both new adjusters as well as risk management personnel better understand the workers’ compensation process. The class is not state-specific, but rather, focuses on the general concepts of the workers’ compensation process and the claims flow.
The Commercial Lines Liability class is a comprehensive two-week course designed for new adjusters with minimal claims experience. Topics covered in this course include commercial general liability policy; business auto policy; truckers’ policy; adjuster law; basic claims investigation for commercial autos; trucks; general liability (slip & fall) and products liability; how to take recorded statements; special and general damages; dealing with attorneys and doctors; negotiating for insurance adjusters; recognizing and investigating fraudulent insurance claims; and identifying subrogation.
For new adjusters with minimal claims experience, Crawford offers the Personal Lines Liability class. This intense two-week course combines technical learning programs with hard-skill training. Topics covered in this course include personal auto policy; homeowners’ liability coverage; adjuster law; Fair Claims Practices Act; dealing with attorneys and doctors; how to take recorded statements; special and general damages; vehicle damage claims; negotiating for insurance adjusters; recognizing and investigating fraudulent insurance claims; and identifying subrogation.
