FBI-LEEDA, NER Note Series of Heavy Equipment Theft Summits; First Slated for June 21

June 1, 2005

The first in a series of regional heavy equipment theft summits will take place at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson, Mississippi on Tuesday, June 21.

The summit will be hosted by Sheriff Malcolm McMillin of Hinds County, Mississippi and Commissioner Lester Spell, Jr. of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce and is sponsored by FBI-LEEDA and the National Equipment Register.

This free one-day regional summit will include general sessions on the equipment theft problem, equipment theft prevention and the latest in equipment security technology. Break-out classes will provide law enforcement with instruction in equipment identification techniques, including hands-on training, and equipment owners with more in-depth theft prevention training. New equipment security technologies will be explained and demonstrated throughout the day.

The sponsored breaks, lunch and reception will give equipment owners and law enforcement a chance to network and discuss ways of working together to combat the growing problem of equipment theft.

All registrations must be received by NER (info@NERusa.com) by June 14. Space is limited and places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

The next summit will be held in San Bernardino, Calif. in July with further summits in Texas and Florida.
