Florida Insurance Council Updates Hurricane Hotline List
A list of individual company “hotline” numbers that policyholders would use if Tropical Storm Alberto becomes more than a rainmaker, has been updated by the Florida Insurance Council in Tallahassee, Fla.
“We are also updating our list of media contacts for each individual company should the news media have a need to contact a specific carrier,” an FIC spokesman said. “We will make those lists available to the media as conditions warrant.”
In the meantime, the council urges all homeowners to use this early season tropical storm as a reminder of the need to review their homeowners’ policies with their agents to make sure they are carrying enough insurance to cover any loss should a storm damage their home.
Restrictions vary from company to company, but generally most carriers will stop writing homeowners’ coverage in designated areas once a tropical storm or hurricane watch or warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center.
