West Virginia Exposes Workers’ Comp Fraud
William E. Keir pleaded guilty earlier this month to one felony count of wrongfully seeking workers’ compensation insurance, according to the West Virginia Insurance Commission.
Keir, 29, of Morgantown was indicted in September on four felony counts of attempting to obtain workers’ compensation benefits by filing false workers’ compensation claims with four separate health care providers in the Morgantown area from 2002 to 2004.
During the Dec. 11 plea, officials said Keir agreed to make full restitution to the medical providers involved in all four counts of the indictment. A pre-sentencing investigation is to be conducted prior to sentencing.
