Miss. Commissioner: State Farm to Reopen Katrina Claims
Mississippi Insurance Commissioner George Dale said he has convinced State Farm to reopen and readjust all Hurricane Katrina claims in the Mississippi coastal counties upon request of policyholders.
He said State Farm has agreed and informed him that it intends to make unspecificed millions of dollars available for additional payments to policyholders in Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson counties.
Dale said this agreement is based upon preliminary findings of his department’s examination of State Farm’s handling of Hurricane Katrina claims, and the recent withdrawal of a proposed class action settlement.
