City Employees Among Those Indicted for Insurance Fraud Ring
An Albany, Ga. grand jury indicted 16 defendants as part of a two-year investigation into an insurance fraud ring that authorities say started in city government offices.
Investigators say Kyshelia Hunt and Timothy Hunt, who worked for the Albany’s sewer department, recruited co-workers and friends to help them file fraudulent medical insurance claims with AFLAC Corporation. According to the 36-count indictment, the scam swindled the Columbus-based company out of more than $145,000.
Investigators became suspicious when the couple filed medical claims for an 8-year-old with multiple broken hips, surgeries and gunshot wounds.
