Trees Fall on Georgia Power Truck, Employee Killed
Authorities say a Georgia Power employee died after trees fell on his pickup truck as it was parked at an intersection near East Lake Golf Club.
DeKalb County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Eric Jackson says two trees crushed the truck, including one 60-foot tall tree that crushed the driver on Tuesday.
An arborist might be called in to determine the cause of the fall, including taking into consideration the health of the tree, which was in the yard of a two-story house.
Thunderstorms and strong winds had passed through the area, and many trees have root systems weakened by two years of drought.
The worker’s name was withheld until his family could be notified.
