County Official Charged with Burning Land in South Carolina
A Horry County environmental services officer is charged with burning land belonging to International Paper Company last year, according to South Carolina authorities.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported June 26 that Kyle G. Bell is suspended without pay and will remain off the job pending the results of his trial. Bell is the son of a former forest ranger.
Officials reported seeing Bell’s truck in the area of several fires. The newspaper says investigators traced the truck using a tag number and the investigation was turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division.
Investigators say the fires were arson related.
