Florida Parents of Premature Baby Who Died Awarded $12 Million
A jury says the parents of a premature baby who died at Tampa General Hospital should be awarded $12 million dollars.
Allyson Parham and Robert Gardner contended their child died because Tampa General didn’t have the appropriate specialists on its staff to deal with the baby’s infection.
The infant had been transferred from Winter Haven Hospital.
The lawsuit was one of at least nine with similar allegations filed by Tampa lawyer Harold Tripp Sebring.
Tampa General spokesman John Dunn says the hospital will appeal. He says Friday’s verdict was disappointing since no hospital employees have been accused of any wrongdoing.
