North Carolina Governor Sends Aid to Tropical Storm Fay Flood Vicitms
North Carolina’s governor is promising help for residents of Cabarrus County, where flooding from remnants of a tropical storm damaged or destroyed scores of structures.
Gov. Mike Easley toured the damage Aug. 28 and said a state assessment of the damage would be conducted.
The Independent Tribune of Concord and Kannapolis reported Aug. 29 that county officials won’t know if they qualify for federal or state emergency funds until the assessment is completed.
Assistance could include loans for residents who don’t have flood insurance.
