West Virginia Woman Pleads Guilty to Insurance Fraud

A Kanawha County, W.Va. woman pleaded guilty to a felony count of fraudulent claims to an insurance company according to West Virginia Insurance Commissioner, Jane L. Cline.

As part of her plea, Lisa Holcomb-Patterson, 42, of Dunbar, W.Va. will be required to pay $5,887.18 in restitution to the Standard Insurance Co.

Holcomb-Patterson, was indicted on two felony counts of insurance fraud, two felony counts of uttering a forged document and one felony count of fraudulent schemes, in November 2007, by a Kanawha County Grand Jury. The charges include forged medical documents in order to receive disability payments while continuing to work at the then Workers’ Compensation Commission, Cline said.
