3 Fires at Eastern Kentucky University Investigated
Three fires on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond are under investigation as possible arson.
The Richmond Fire Department and EKU are looking into the small fires, which were all reported Oct. 6.
EKU spokesman Marc Whitt told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the first fire happened after someone threw an object that was on fire down a trash chute. Then books were set on fire in a stairwell hours later. Both those fires were in the Dupree Hall dorm.
The Powell Student Center was the site of the third fire, which was reported in a stairwell.
