No Sprinklers, No Bingo: Alabama Fire Marshal Closes Halls
Alabama fire inspectors closed four Walker County bingo halls that attract hundreds of patrons for failing to comply with an order to install sprinkler systems.
The order came after fire marshal and law enforcement officials conducted weekend inspections of seven bingo operations.
VFW No. 1 and 3, Mega Bingo and Dreams Come True Charity Bingo were closed for not complying with a Nov. 3 order to install sprinklers that accommodated the occupancy level.
Carbon Hill Charity Bingo, Highway 78 Charity Bingo and VFW No. 2 were allowed to remain open after they were inspected because they had complied with the order. The bingo halls must undergo another inspection before reopening.
