Raleigh to Pay $1 Million in Crash with City Truck Driver
Raleigh authorities say a woman who sued the city over a head-on crash with a recycling truck has agreed to a $1.1 million settlement.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports the agreement signed earlier this month ends Nirali Manish Dubal’s lawsuit against the city and the truck driver.
Dubal suffered a fractured ankle, arm and spine in the January 2007 crash with a city truck. The suit accused the driver of failing to yield the right of way to Dubal and not properly signaling before making a left turn.
Dubal’s attorney, Carlos Mahoney, says Dubal has been permanently disabled because of her injuries.
City officials say the city’s liability insurance carrier will pay all but $100,000 of the settlement.
