Georgia Peaut Warehouse Fire Ruled Accidental
Georgia’s Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner says a Jan. 20 warehouse fire at Sylvester’s Farm Commodities has been ruled accidental.
According to John Oxendine, an investigation determined the fire was ignited by a spark from welder’s torch.
The massive blaze destroyed 2,300 tons of peanuts worth an estimated $1.5 million and the $2 million structure.
Oxendine said insurance should cover the losses.
There were no injuries.
