March 31, 2009

Flood advisories remain in effect in parts of Alabama as rivers and creeks continue to swell with runoff from heavy rainfall.

National Weather Service meteorologists posted flood warnings Sunday for the Perdido and Styx rivers affecting Baldwin and Escambia counties.

Other waterways under a flood warning include the Alabama River affecting Monroe and Wilcox counties; the Conecuh River flowing through Covington and Crenshaw counties; the Tombigbee River affecting Choctaw, Monroe and Clarke counties.

Others rivers spilling their banks include the Cahaba, Conecuh, Sucarnoochie and Tallapoosa.

Forecasters expect more rainfall on Tuesday and rivers are expected to continue rising.
