South Carolina Surveys Tornado Damage
Teams are surveying damage from a spring storm that brought hail, high winds and at least one confirmed tornado but no reported injuries to South Carolina.
Kim Campbell with the National Weather Service in Columbia said Saturday that surveyors were in Aiken County to inspect damage from a tornado that touched down near New Ellenton and Beech Island.
Campbell says the storm damaged homes and tore the roof from at least one local business.
The storm that moved through the state overnight brought hail as large as one-inch to some central portions of the state.
Duke Energy reported that about 12,000 of its South Carolina customers were without power Saturday.
South Carolina Electric and Gas reported about 1,500 customers without power.
