Alabama Testing Hurricane Communications
Alabama emergency officials this week will conduct a statewide test of hurricane communications equipment.
Communications coordinator Chuck Murph will lead the week-long exercise from a site in Baldwin County.
The training includes a scenario centering around a hurricane striking Alabama’s coast and disabling most commercial and public safety communication infrastructure.
Hurricane season begins June 1, and officials say this exercise will test protocols and procedures for effectively transmitting information from county to county and from the coast to the Claton-based State Emergency Operations
