Mississippi College Still Seeking Katrina Insurance Settlement
Pearl River Community College hasn’t exactly been able to put Hurricane Katrina in the rearview mirror.
Nearly four years later, the Poplarvile, Mississippi college still is trying to get a settlement from Zurich Insurance Co. for damages inflicted by the storm.
Chuck Abadie, PRCC public relations director, says the dispute is currently entering its third month of arbitration, with project engineers on both sides presenting their arguments.
What’s at stake is the assessment of approximately 30 storm-damaged buildings.
President William Lewis has said the college expects its damages to run between $40 million and $50 million.
