FEMA Opens 5 Flood Assistance Centers in Eastern Kentucky
Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened five assistance centers in eastern Kentucky.
Centers are in Breathitt, Floyd and Owsley counties, with two in Pike County. Hundreds in the area were left homeless after floods in early May.
Carol Barre is the manager of the center at the Belfry Library in Pike County.
She says residents of Breathitt, Floyd, Owsley and Pike counties needing help with a FEMA claim should register first by phone or online, which will generate a FEMA work order. She says residents can then visit the centers to ask questions, file paperwork and check on claims.
Barre says the agency will be there as long as it’s needed.
