Florida Wants BP to Streamline Process for Filing Oil Spill Claims
Florida CFO Alex Sink today asked BP America to clarify the process Florida consumers should follow to file a claim related to the oil spill.
Following a weekend meeting, CFO Sink sent a letter today reiterating that she continues to hear from Floridians concerned by long on-hold times when calling the BP phone line for filing claims, and who are confused about what is required to file a claim.
CFO Sink’s Department of Financial Services’ Consumer Helpline provides consumers and businesses with assistance in insurance and will use the information to assist Floridians impacted by business disruption from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
“As we both know, it is imperative that we work together to keep Florida’s business owners informed of all the options available to protect their livelihoods,” CFO Sink wrote.
