BP Claims Fund Chief Meets with Alabama Businesses
Several Alabama business people came away satisfied after one-on-one meetings with the head of BP’s oil spill claims office, Ken Feinberg.
The owner of The Hangout restaurant in Gulf Shores, Shaul Zislin, said he believes answers are on the way and Chris Nelson of Bon Secour Fisheries said his meeting with Feinberg last Thursday was productive.
Feinberg said he’s giving special attention to Alabama business owners because so many of them are unhappy about their claims. He says Alabama has been what he calls “a sore spot” for his office.
Feinberg’s operation has paid out almost $2.2 billion for oil spill claims. But he’s been dogged by criticism that payments to large businesses are far smaller than their losses.
