West Virginia Lawsuits Claim Kids Hurt in Gym Class
Two Kanawha County residents who claim their children were hurt playing full-contact football during gym class are suing the county Board of Education.
One lawsuit alleges a child broke his leg at McKinley Middle School in 2008. It says an unidentified substitute teacher allowed students to play football without any protective equipment.
Another lawsuit claims a Nitro High School student sustained “serious injuries” while playing full-contact football, without supervision, on the tennis courts during physical education class.
Kanawha County Board of Education President Pete Thaw told the Charleston Daily Mail he’s looking into the allegations.
Trial dates have not been set.
