McPeak Named Tennessee Insurance Commissioner
Republican Gov.-elect Bill Haslam has named insurance regulatory attorney Julie McPeak to oversee the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
McPeak has more than 12 years of legal and administrative experience in state government, recently serving as executive director of the Kentucky Office of Insurance.
Before that, she spent nine years as an attorney for the Kentucky agency, including five as general counsel.
The Commerce Department protects the interests of consumers while providing a level field of competition for a broad array of industries and professionals doing business in Tennessee.
McPeak succeeds Leslie Newman.
