Alabama Woman Claims Hand Warmer Burned Her
A Madison County woman says she was burned by a hand warmer she put in her back pocket.
An attorney for 24-year-old Lauren Self filed suit Monday against Implus Footcare, a North Carolina-based company that makes Little Hotties Hand Warmers.
The lawsuit claims Self was using the hand warmers on Feb. 5 while working as an athletic trainer. She says she put a warmer in her pocket and heard a pop, felt searing pain, and realized the warmer had ignited.
The suit says she suffered third-degree burns on her buttocks and thighs, and has been out of work ever since.
The lawsuit says the injuries were caused by an unreasonably dangerous product.
Implus Footcare CEO Seth Richards says his company has no knowledge of the lawsuit or of Self’s injuries.
