Georgia Plant Faces $64,000 OSHA Penalty
The Dixon Ticonderoga distribution center and imprinting plant in Macon faces a $64,000 penalty from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The agency says it found 11 serious safety violations and five serious health violations.
The Telegraph reports that company CEO Tim Gomez says the company does not dispute the problems OSHA found and has corrected all but one of the problems within 30 days.
He says the final improvement requires a piece of new equipment Gomez said he hopes to have installed by the end of the year.
Gomez says his operation is mostly a distribution center for pencils, pens and crayons, with a small area where workers custom print designs onto writing utensils.
