Sheriff: Drag Racing Big Problem for Georgia County
The Augusta Chronicle reports that the deaths happened less than three weeks after a Waynesboro man was hospitalized when his car flipped and struck a tree during a drag race on the same stretch of road.
Georgia State Patrol Sgt. 1st Class Chris Lacienski said that Seven Oaks Road is patrolled frequently, but it only takes a few minutes to race and the suspects are gone by the time police arrive.
Burke County Deputy Coroner Susan Salemi said 27-year-old Kevin Johnson of Sardis and 15-year-old Keshon Burdette of Waynesboro were killed while watching Sunday’s race when a car struck them.
