West Virginia University Sues Apparel Maker Claiming Trademark Violation

January 12, 2012

West Virginia University is suing a Morgantown apparel company that it claims violated the school’s trademarks.

The lawsuit alleges that T-shirts sold by Fastees contain WVU’s trademarks or “confusingly similar” imitations. It also claims Internet domain names registered by Fastees violate the trademarks.

The Dominion Post reports that WVU filed the lawsuit last week in federal court.

Kevin Ford, managing member of Miva-Man, declined to comment to the newspaper until he spoke to his lawyer. The newspaper says Miva-Man operates under the name Fastees.
